FATHOM have worked with businesses of all shapes and sizes, but working on projects within the NHS is always exciting, especially as it is one of the most well-known organisations in the UK.

Working closely with Interserve Construction as sub-contractors, FATHOM furnished the brand-new emergency department at the Manchester University Hospital and refurbished pre-existing areas within the hospital, by developing a full range of bespoke furniture. As with any job for the NHS, all furniture we supplied was designed and manufactured to NHS’ HTM 63 (Health Technical Memorandum) Standard for hospital furniture, ensuring the highest quality of workmanship.

This project was broken down into two main phases, beginning with fitting out the brand-new emergency department and concluding with refurbishing over 100 rooms in total. One of the biggest challenges was designing and manufacturing the 7 bespoke staff bases and reception areas, these required input from each sector of FATHOM, from our design team, to the Wood Mill and Paint Shop. We had tight timings on this job, requiring our team to pull together to get it done, with many of our designers and manufacturers working above and beyond to ensure the job was complete to the high level that we not only expect of ourselves, but that our clients know us for.
Once the design and manufacturing teams had completed their roles, it was then down to our fitters to ensure all items were installed quickly, efficiently and correctly within our given time frame.Through experienced planning, team work, a few extra hours and some good quality coffee, we were able to stand back and admire the completed project.
